Visiting our wards and departments
This is a nurse-led unit and we treat patients from all specialties.
The unit has 15 treatment areas – a bay with 8 recliner chairs specifically used for giving infusions and a 7 bed area used for procedures.
Regular infusions given on Rushmere are:
- Infliximab
- immunoglobulins
- blood products
- rituximab
- Tocilizumab
- Abatacept
- Zolendronic acid
- iron infusions
Some of the procedures undertaken on the unit are:
- biopsies
- chest drains
- PICC line insertions
- paracentesis
- lumbar punctures
- transesophageal echocardiograms
- venesections
The unit is also the base for the OPAT team (Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Team) and the PICC service (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters).

Meal times:
Sandwiches and light refreshments are available for patients at the times below. Please bring in your own snacks for other times of the day.
- Lunch: 12pm
- Dinner: 5pm
Hot drinks are available. These are provided by the Rushmere charitable fund – donations to the fund are appreciated but not compulsory.
