Staff networks at ESNEFT

ESNEFT staff networks

We are committed to creating a more equal diverse and inclusive ESNEFT.  One of the ways we are doing this is by developing staff networks for groups of colleagues who have historically been marginalised in the workplace.

Armed Forces network

The Armed Forces network is open to all ESNEFT colleagues, including students. It is particularly suited to veterans, reservists, cadet instructors and those who have a general interest in the armed forces. The network also welcomes people with a family member who serves in the armed forces, or who once served.

The Armed Forces network’s mission is to make sure military personnel and veterans are not disadvantaged and receive the same services and treatment as others.

This is a logo which reads Armed Forces Network. Then there is a vertical line to the right of that text. The top half of the line is black and the bottom half is blue. To the right of that is a blue, white and black logo which reads NHS East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

EMBRace network (Equality Moving Beyond Race)

The EMBRace network provides a forum where skills, knowledge and experience can be developed and shared in a safe and learning environment between ethnic minority groups.

The network helps shape inclusive and accessible services.

The network is open to all disciplines, staff and students with an interest in promoting racial and cultural equality within the workplace.

Four coloured circles and four bendy lines represent four heads and pairs of arms in a circle. They are red, blue, green and yellow and the arms are interlinked. Above is a blue, white and black logo which reads NHS East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust and to the right of that it reads Embrace Network in black text.

ESNable disability network

The ESNable network is for:

  • Any member of staff who has a disability or a long-term condition (LTC)
  • People with a caring responsibility for a person with a disability or LTC
  • Able-bodied colleagues with an interest in promoting awareness of the experiences of disabled people as allies

A colourful circular graphic features shapes in navy, pink, blue, green and yellow. At the bottom of the circle, against the background of the colours, are four white simple shapes of people. One has a walking stick, one has a prosthetic leg and one is in a wheelchair. Beneath them are the captions ESNAble and ESNEFT disability and carers network.

LGBTQ+ Friends network

The LGBTQ+ Friends network represents the interests of LGBTQIA+ staff and patients at ESNEFT. It aims to:

  • Engage in positive change in the workplace which will allow all LGBTQIA+ staff to excel in a supportive and non-discriminatory work environment
  • Ensure that patient services are welcoming, non-judgemental and meet the healthcare needs of the LGBTQIA+ community

This is a logo which reads LGBTQ+ Friends Network. Then there is a vertical line to the right of that text made up of small squares of colours in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, brown, light blue and pink. To the right of that is a blue, white and black logo which reads NHS East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

The aims of our staff networks

Staff networks at ESNEFT aim to:

  • Create safe spaces for colleagues to share knowledge and experiences
  • Raise awareness of workplace issues facing staff groups to the rest of ESNEFT
  • Become a collective voice to influence policy and practice and communicate with leaders at ESNEFT
  • Celebrate achievements of colleagues and to create a sense of belonging
  • Provide support to colleagues facing individual challenges at work
  • Enhance the services we offer to patients, visitors and our local communities in these groups
  • Promote career progression

Being successful in any or all of the above will help us to make ESNEFT a better place to work.  And when we feel happy at work, the positivity reaches our patients.
