I work as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and specialise in medical retinal diseases and modern cataract surgery. I have been practicing ophthalmology for more than twenty years.
I did my higher specialist training in Cardiff and completed my fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. I joined Essex County Hospital, Colchester in 2009.
My areas of expertise are age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, inflammatory eye diseases (uveitis), diabetic eye disease including intravitreal injection therapy (Eylea, Lucentis) and retinal laser treatments.
I am actively involved in the training and teaching of doctors and also ophthalmic trainees. I am also a college tutor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and faculty for the College’s Microsurgical Skills Courses.

I am a Substantive Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, specialising in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery. I performed the first ever XEN45 Glaucoma sub-conjunctival micro-stent implantation at Essex County Hospital (15.6.2016@ECH), BAERVELDT Glaucoma Tube implantation (19.4.2017@ECH), CYPASS Glaucoma supraciliary micro-stent implantation (22.11.2017@ECH), and i-Stent G2 Glaucoma trans-trabecular micro-stent implantation (6.12.2017@ECH).
I have a special interest in Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) and Laser Surgery for Glaucoma (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty, Argon Laser Peripheral Iridoplasty and YAG Laser Peripheral Iridotomy).
I am the local Principal Investigator for 3 major glaucoma studies (National East Anglian POEM Glaucoma Study, International XEN45 in Angle Closure Multi-Centre Study, Pan-European MASTERS CyPass Study).

I did most of my Ophthalmology training in East Anglia and my Paediatric Ophthalmology training in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, West Suffolk and Moorfields eye Hospital.


Henry Z.H. Lin

I was appointed by the Trust as Consultant in 2022 to lead the Oculoplastic service. I trained in general Ophthalmology and advanced Cataract surgery techniques in the East of England, before subspecialising in Oculoplastic (eyelid) and Lacrimal (watery eye/tear duct) surgery in Cambridge and Southampton.
My areas of expertise are eyelid malpositions and eyelid reconstruction, and blocked tear ducts. I am a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society.
I teach Cataract surgery on the faculty for Microsurgical Skills at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. I am also the departmental medical school lead for the University of East Anglia.

I have worked for the trust since May 2009 and provide specialist services in diseases of the retina. This covers all medical retinal diseases (macular degeneration, diabetes) and surgical problems like retinal detachment, macular hole and haemorrhage into the eye.
I also perform modern cataract surgery. I trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology, London for 10 years before joining Colchester as a Consultant.

I graduated in 1993 and have been working at Ipswich Hospital since 2005. I was appointed as a Consultant in 2013. I have a special interest in a wide range of medical retinal disorders and treatment modalities such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy / maculopathy, retinal vascular occlusion, OCT / retinal imaging, retinal laser treatment and cataract surgery.
I am a lead clinician for AMD treatment services at Ipswich Hospital and work at the Garrett Anderson Eye suite (GAES) with a team of dedicated medical, nursing and technical staff.

I work as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and I have special interest in management of glaucoma and complex cataract surgery.
I graduated from South Valley University in 2002 and I did my higher specialist Ophthalmology training in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Cambridge university hospitals.
I completed a Senior Glaucoma Fellowship in Glaucoma and Complex Cataract surgeries from the prestigious Western Eye Hospital, London.
During my advanced training in glaucoma, I have had the opportunity to acquire extensive and comprehensive expertise in Glaucoma, complex and challenging cataract surgeries.
Area of expertise:
- I’m interested in management of all forms of glaucoma using different approaches that include medical and interventional techniques tailored to each patient
- I perform different glaucoma surgeries including Augmented Trabeculectomy, Baerveldt and Ahmed drainage tube surgery, laser peripheral iridotomy (Yag PI), MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery), and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT)
- I also perform the MDLT (MicroPulse Diode Laser Therapy) and ECP ( Endoscopic Cyclophoto-coagulation) Laser treatment for glaucoma
- I’m also highly trained in complex cataract surgery
