About governors
Governors meet with people in their local community or staff group to listen to their ideas and opinions and report back at Council of Governors meetings. They discuss major service developments, the Trust’s annual report and accounts, and how members are recruited and informed.
The Council influences and signs off strategies while monitoring performance and holding the Board of Directors to account.
Governors also have statutory powers which include appointing the Trust Chair and non-executive directors and approving the appointment of the Chief Executive. Public governors are not paid but they are reimbursed any expenses they incur during the course of their work.
