Diabetes and pregnancy service

Our service covers your pregnancy with:

  • type 1 diabetes
  • type 2 diabetes
  • gestational diabetes

Having diabetes during pregnancy can be stressful in what is a joyful time in your life.

We will support you, guiding you through your pregnancy. Our goal is a healthy baby and birthing parent at the end of the pregnancy.

We can help you get in control of any diabetes-related health issue, before you try for a baby.

We also take part in research to improve care for those who are pregnant with diabetes. We may offer you the chance to take part in some studies but this is voluntary, and you are under no pressure to take part.

Diabetes and pregnancy clinic

Our clinic runs every Tuesday morning in the main antenatal clinic at Ipswich Hospital.

We are a one-stop shop and aim to give you all the antenatal advice you need, and ultrasound scans, on the same day.

We know you have busy lives. For that reason we try and reduce the time you spend with us and members of our diabetes and obstetric team will aim to see you at the same time.
