If you cannot arrange to see your GP and are worried about your child, call 111.

If you feel it is an emergency, please take your child to the Emergency department.

Who comes to the children’s assessment unit?

The Children’s Assessment Units are emergency wards for children.

You will bring your child to us if:

  • They have seen your GP, community nurse or health visitor who has arranged for them to come in for urgent tests or treatment
  • They have been seen in Emergency department (ED) and the doctor wants them to have more tests
  • We have given your child “open access”, which means they can come whenever they need, for urgent treatment or therapy
  • Your child has been given an appointment with us for follow up after a stay in hospital
