MyChart patient app – test results

Test results in the MyChart app

You will be able to see some of your test results through MyChart. When a result is ready, you will get an email, text message or a notification on your mobile, depending on your MyChart communication preferences. Then, you can visit the Test results page.

Not all test results will be made available on MyChart. If you’re having a test that does not get added to MyChart, your healthcare team will tell you how and when you will get your results.

How long until you see your MyChart test results

When you have the test, the team caring for you will tell you when you’ll get your results.

Depending on the test you have, your results will be added to MyChart after a few days. Sometimes they may take a bit longer.

If you do not see your MyChart test results

There can be many reasons why you might not see your results. Some results will only be added if the clinician feels it is appropriate or has already discussed the results with you.

If you’re having a test that does not get added to MyChart automatically, your healthcare team will tell you how and when you will get your results.

If you were expecting to see your results on MyChart and feel you have been waiting too long, please contact the service your appointment was with for more information.

Viewing your results in MyChart

You will see individual results with:

  • the name of the test
  • the date of the test
  • the team who ordered it

If you open the test result, you will also see:

  • any comments from your clinician
  • the normal range of the test and where your result sits
  • trends of your results, if you have the same tests regularly
  • a link to more information about the test and possible results

Accessing MyChart results if you are a parent or a carer

MyChart allows you to provide access to your account if you need help or support from a family member or carer. You will have the patient’s log-in details and will be able to see some of their information. This means that the patient can have support to manage your healthcare.

A clinician or administrative member of staff can give a parent or carer proxy access.

Help with understanding your MyChart results

Included with MyChart is information provided by Lab Tests Online-UK. They help you understand the clinical laboratory tests that are used in diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of disease. The information is written by practising laboratory doctors and scientists.

If you are concerned about a MyChart result

If you are worried about your test results and what they mean, please speak to a member of the team caring for you. They will be able to answer any questions you have and explain the test results in more detail.

When your MyChart results will be reviewed by a clinician

Your test results will be sent to the doctor who requested them. They may see these results before you, or at the same time. This depends on the type of test you have and what the results are.
