Service Information
Teledermatology service in North East Essex
Teledermatology
East Suffolk & North Essex Foundation Trust work with Skin Analytics to provide a skin cancer community assessment service across North East Essex.
Skin Analytics is an external company who support the assessment of your skin lesion using a specially developed computer program called DERM. DERM has been developed by Skin Analytics to recognise skin cancer and common harmless skin conditions using photographic images.
Diagnosis involves an appointment with a qualified dermatology nurse. The dermatology nurse will take a series of digital photographs of your skin lesion.
The dermatology nurse will then send the photographs to a specialised dermatology system for remote assessment. The assessment will determine if you need to come into hospital for further treatment.
You may have been referred from your GP or via another route to have either one or two specific lesions photographed.
If you have been referred for more than two lesions, you will be asked to seek another route for treatment, or be re-referred for your other lesions by your GP.
Not everyone is suitable for a Teledermatology appointment
