Visiting our wards and departments
This is a nurse-led unit and we treat patients from all specialties.
The unit has 15 treatment areas – a bay with 8 recliner chairs specifically used for giving infusions and a 7 bed area used for procedures.
Regular infusions given on Rushmere are:
- Infliximab
- immunoglobulins
- blood products
- rituximab
- Tocilizumab
- Abatacept
- Zolendronic acid
- iron infusions
Some of the procedures undertaken on the unit are:
- biopsies
- chest drains
- paracentesis
- lumbar punctures
- transesophageal echocardiograms
- venesections
The unit is also the base for the OPAT team (Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Team)

Refreshments of tea and coffee are available from our self-serve station in the infusion suite. If you feel you would need further refreshments/snacks/lunch while during your stay on the unit, it is advised that you bring this with you.
