A listening ear

We know sometimes your situation cannot be fixed, but that you need someone who is prepared to listen. The centre staff and volunteers will be able to offer you that support.

Leaflets and books

Many are available for you to take away. We offer specific information about particular cancers or different, general support books.

We also have information and leaflets about different organisations, equipment and practical issues.

Referrals and advice

We can make referrals to other hospital departments, or services outside the organisation. We can direct you to people and places that might be able to help you with some additional support.

We can help:

  • advise you about financial support, transport and blue badges
  • direct you to local and national sources of support
  • organise exercise programmes suitable for people before, during and after treatment
  • hold workshops and host complementary therapy practitioners from the Cancer Campaign in Suffolk charity
  • refer you for counselling and family support
  • refer you to a specialist cancer dietician
  • provide a range of headwear and (donated) wigs
  • refer you to makeover days (hair, nails, makeup) to give you a relaxing wellbeing experience
  • provide support and guidance to help you return to work
  • support carers and family members.
  • host cancer support group meetings

Contact the Ipswich Cancer Wellbeing Centre

The centre is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 3.30pm

Email Cancer Support

Telephone: 01473 715 748

If you call outside the centre’s normal opening times (or if our lines are busy), please leave a message and we will call you back as soon as possible.

We may close the front doors if we don’t have enough people to safely meet the needs of people coming to the centre. You will still be able to contact us via telephone/email/website. When this happens, people arriving for pre-booked appointments will be welcomed as usual.

Give us your feedback

Your feedback helps us improve and develop our services and ensure we are meeting patient and family members’ needs.

Please let us know your thoughts on what we do well and what we could improve, including any ideas you have.

You could leave feedback in the centre or contact us by phone or email.

Volunteer and fundraise

We value the time and skills that people give to help the centre run.  If you are interested, then please ask how you might be able to help.

You must be a minimum of two years post-treatment to do any face-to-face work with patients. However, we may have projects that you can help with earlier.

We are also looking for creative people who might like to join others to run occasional fundraising cake and craft tables.

Ipswich Cancer Information website

Our website was developed by staff and patients in the centre.

The site was kindly funded by a local charity, Art for Cure.

On the Ipswich Cancer Information website (Opens in a new window) website, you can find out about events, courses and complementary therapy sessions being held in the Ipswich Cancer Wellbeing Centre and at other locations in Suffolk.

Cancer voices – living with cancer is a shared experience

Joel, Rachel and Mike have been treated for cancer at ESNEFT.

Watch a video where they talk about their experiences of living with cancer. The video opens in a new window which takes you to YouTube where accessibility controls may not be supported.
