Counselling for cancer patients

Coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis can be difficult and at times, you may feel overwhelmed, sad or angry.  You may also feel that you do not want to discuss your worries or concerns with your family or friends.

Counselling can help you cope with the many emotional issues that cancer may cause. Counselling cannot change your cancer diagnosis, but it does provide a safe and supportive space where you can talk about whatever is important to you.

Your counsellor will not give you advice, but can help you develop coping strategies before, during and after your treatment.

You will be offered up to six, free counselling sessions. If you feel that counselling would be of benefit, then please speak to your cancer nurse or to your local cancer information centre.
