Ipswich Hospital corridor closing for two weeks

From today, Monday 17 January, the corridor leading to Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O) from the former south entrance at Ipswich Hospital will be out of use for two weeks. This is a link corridor which takes people from the south corridor (where most of the hospital wards are) to the T&O department, via the old entrance and shops area.

This will allow work to be carried out to the ceilings, floors and mechanical and electrical services in the area previously occupied by WH Smith, Costa and Stock Shop. This will pave the way for the new temporary Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Ipswich Hospital, which is due to open this year.

We are asking everyone – staff, visitors and patients – to use another route for the next two weeks.

There will be volunteers on the temporary route to help you find your way and information cards that will be given out to patients by the Emergency Department.

There are a number of big building projects going on at ESNEFT with millions of pounds being invested to make sure our patients have the best possible environments.

Please bear with us – the disruption is only short-term and we will be hugely improving the hospital as a result.
