Temporary closure of footpath at Colchester Hospital

The footpath running along Turner Village Road at Colchester Hospital, will be closed for two days next week.

The closure will be in place from 7.30am on Tuesday (31 October) to 5pm on Wednesday (1 November).

An alternative route for pedestrians who are on foot will be signposted so they can reach the main hospital building, and other locations including the Primary Care Centre and Nanna’s Day Nursery, safely.

This route will take patients, visitors and staff around the pedestrian footpath to and from the hospital (either along Turner Road and in the South Entrance, or from the bottom of Turner Village Road, past the hospital’s goods in yard and Training Block South).

Alternatively, you can walk past the postgraduate medical centre (villa 8), or Nanna’s Day Nursery (depending on which end of the road you’re at), and follow the road behind the Iceni Centre and remaining villas. There is not a designated footpath here so please take care and be mindful of passing traffic.

Staff will also be on hand to direct anyone who is unsure of where to go.

The temporary closure will allow technical work under the road to be carried out to support the construction of a new training facility. If the work is completed ahead of schedule, the footpath will reopen again as quickly and safely as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.
