Temporary closure of Colchester Hospital main entrance

Colchester Hospital’s main entrance is temporarily closing from Monday and people will follow a short diversion, using a new entrance just a short distance away.

The new temporary entrance, which will be signposted, will be just around the corner from the Subway shop (see picture). A short diversion will take people through the inside of the hospital to the main reception desk and shops area, which will all remain open.

The diversion is expected to be in place for one week, to allow a new, stronger floor to be fitted in the entrance lobby.

When the Colchester Hospital main entrance closes temporarily this month, a new entrance will open a short distance away, just around the corner from the Subway shop. A short diversion will take people through the inside of the hospital to the main reception and shops area, which will all remain open.

All hospital services remain open and volunteers will be on hand for anyone who needs help to find their way.

We apologise for inconvenience caused by the closure and teams will be working hard to complete the work and reopen the main entrance as soon as possible.
