Support available for children on ASD assessment pathway

Families in Essex with children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment pathway can get support through a number of local organisations.

Support is available for families through:

  • Essex Family Wellbeing Neurodevelopmental Team who can support children, young people and families with a neurodevelopmental disorder. They’re open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Call 0300 247 0015 and ask for neurodevelopmental coordinators team or email vcl.essexne-neurocoord@nhs.net
  • Essex Family Forum is for families of children with disabilities or additional needs. More information is available on their website www.essexfamilyforum.org or you can email: hello@essexfamilyforum.org
  • The Maze Group run free monthly drop-in sessions, a specialist weekly programme and additional workshops to guide, advise and support families of children with additional needs. The Maze Group run special educational needs and disability (SEND) parenting groups with regular coffee mornings in Colchester and Tendring. More information is available on their website www.themazegroup.co.uk

Families with appointments, or on a waiting list for an appointment to see the team at the hospital, are encouraged to return any questionnaires promptly and update the team with any change of contact details.
