Meet the critical care team

I have worked at the Trust since March 2005.

I was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist in 2008. I trained in India and in the UK.

I started working in the trust as a consultant in January 2018. I have trained in paediatric anaesthesia at Great Ormond Street Hospital and at the Royal London Hospital.

I also have an interest in ENT and maxillofacial anaesthesia.

I have been working for Ipswich Hospital since September 2014 when I completed my anaesthetics training. My main interests are in anaesthesia for emergency surgery, major spinal surgery and prehospital medicine.

I also have an interest in paediatric, urological and obstetric anaesthesia. I fly with the East Anglian Air Ambulance at least once a week.

I am a Consultant Anaesthetist. I was trained at the Royal Free and UCLH School of Anaesthesia, and was appointed to Ipswich in 2007.

I am lead clinician for difficult airways in the Trust.  I specialise in vascular, paediatrics, and have a special interest in difficult airway procedures.

I have been a consultant anaesthetist at The Ipswich Hospital since February 2014. I trained at the Imperial School of Anaesthesia. I took time out to work at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and to complete a fellowship in obstetric anaesthesia at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital.

My clinical interests include anaesthesia for major spinal surgery, enhanced recovery following orthopaedic surgery and obstetric anaesthesia.

I completed a PGDip in ‘Simulation and Technology in Clinical Practice’ from the Institute of Education (University of London). I undertook a fellowship in medical simulation at St Thomas’ Hospital. I am involved in training at the East Anglian Simulation Training centre, and I have an interest in how human factors influence healthcare.

I started working as a Consultant at Ipswich Hospital at the end of registrar training in 2010. I attended Imperial School of Medicine.

Most of my anaesthetic training was based in North West London, rotating through the Imperial School of Anaesthesia.

My undergraduate training was at St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School. I spent 3 years with the British Antarctic Survey including a year at Halley Base Antarctica, and a research opportunity at the University of Surrey.

Returning to London I trained as an Anaesthetist at the Middlesex, University College, Whittington, Queen Charlotte’s, Royal National Orthopaedic and St Thomas’ hospitals. I was appointed as Consultant Anaesthetist at Ipswich Hospital in 1993.

I was the Chair of the East Anglian Obstetric Anaesthesia Group until 2018, and I chair the Hospital Medicines Optimisation Committee. I teach on simulation and I am an appraiser for colleagues in the hospital.

I have been a Consultant Anaesthetist in the Trust since 2001.

I provide elective and emergency general and reginal anaesthesia for all Ipswich Hospital specialities.

I am also a college tutor.

I have worked at Colchester Hospital as a Consultant since 2019.

My clinical interests include:

• intensive care medicine
• regional anaesthesia
• anaesthesia for vascular surgery

I also have an interest in medical education.

I have worked for Ipswich Hospital since 2002.  I cover anaesthesia for all types of surgical specialties.

I worked for 5 years in the Burns Unit, St Andrew’s Centre, Chelmsford. I completed my training in South Wales, Sheffield, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Norwich.

I have been a Consultant Anaesthetist at Ipswich Hospital since April 1997, having undertaken periods of training in Northampton, Nottingham, Cambridge, Papworth and Ipswich.

I have a particular interest in major case anaesthesia and a sub-speciality interest in anaesthesia for major vascular surgery. I am the lead vascular Anaesthetist on the Vascular Unit.

I have worked at Colchester hospital as a Consultant since 2002.

My interests include children’s anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia for awake operations, and management of patients with difficult airways.

Having completed my anaesthetics training in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, I became a Consultant at Ipswich in 2013. I have an interest in paediatrics and regularly anaesthetise for child dental and eye surgery. I also do anaesthesia for orthopaedics and general emergencies.

I am the Acute Pain Clinical Lead, a role which involves overseeing acute pain management for inpatients, seeing inpatients with poorly controlled pain and liaising with our team of acute pain nurse specialists.

I have worked at the Trust since May 2004.

I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1993, trained in anaesthesia and intensive care in Birmingham, Norwich, Cambridge and Ipswich, and was appointed as a Consultant in Ipswich in 2000.

I am currently Clinical Director for Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care across ESNEFT.

I have worked for the Trust since April 2015.

I have worked for the Trust since February 2020. I studied Medicine at the University of Nottingham. I trained in Anaesthesia in the East Midlands and East Anglia.

My interests include:

• Total Intravenous Anaesthesia
• Perioperative Medicine
• Obstetric Anaesthesia

I am lead for emergency theatres and the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit.

I have worked for the Trust since November 2012.

I am the clinical lead for intensive care, clinical tutor, course director for the local CCrISP course and instructor for ATLS and ALS. I am also a GMC associate partner.

I have worked for the Trust since 2016. I have a special interest in regional and obstetric anaesthesia.

I trained in the South East London region (Guys and St Thomas hospital)

I am the Divisional Director of Women’s and Children’s Services and the Lead Consultant for Paediatric Anaesthesia.

I am a consultant anaesthetist/intensivist I joined ESNEFT in January 2019.

My special interest is point of care Ultrasound.

I joined ESNEFT in February 2018 and am based at Ipswich Hospital.

My special clinical interests are anaesthesia for obstetrics, orthopaedics and urology.

I am the Anaesthetic Lead for Perioperative Anaphylaxis.

I joined Colchester hospital in 2015 after completing training in Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.

I am working as an anaesthetist with a special interest in Vascular anaesthesia. I am the acute pain lead for Colchester hospital and I also have a keen interest in regional anaesthesia.

I am part of a team of six dedicated intensive care physicians at Ipswich Hospital. Together we provide 24/7 year-round ICU care to a diverse range of critically ill patients.

I have worked at the Trust since September 1997.

I have worked for the Trust since May 2014.

I joined ESNEFT in May 2020 as a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.

I am NHS England Regional Advisor for Urgent & Emergency Care (East of England).

I am interested in Healthcare Education.

I have been a Consultant Anaesthetist at Ipswich since 1997. My interests are in anaesthesia for spinal surgery and, at Woodlands Psychiatric Hospital, anaesthesia for electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). I have held several senior management positions over the last 15 years and have an interest in medical appraisal and management of doctors in difficulty.

I am a resuscitation trainer and have a particular interest in the subject of ‘Human Factors’ as applied to medical practice.

I have worked for the Trust for 15 years as a consultant in anaesthesia and pain management. As well as anaesthetising patients for a variety of operations I run a community based pain management clinic for patients who are suffering long-term, patient focussing on self-management strategies to control pain.

I was trained in the East of England with placements at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, James Paget Hospital, Ipswich Hospital and Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

From 2009 to 2013 I spent 4 ½ years working in a small orthopaedic mission hospital in Blantyre, Malawi as a consultant anaesthetist. The hospital provided free surgery to children who would otherwise have to live life with a disability.

I completed the Advanced Airway Fellowship at the Central School of Anaesthesia, London.

I graduated with a gold medal from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India in 2004. I undertook joint CCT training in anaesthetics and intensive care medicine through East Anglia anaesthetic rotation, and joined Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust in 2014.

I am now FICM college tutor for Ipswich Hospital and have special interests in medical education, teaching, and vascular access apart from my full time commitment to intensive care and anaesthetics.

I joined ESNEFT in 2019.  I specialise in paediatric anaesthesia.

I am a Consultant Anaesthetist, specialising in vascular.   I have been a Consultant since 1998.

I have worked at the Trust since April 2005.

I started working in anaesthetics at Ipswich Hospital in 2008.  I have a special interest in emergency and difficult airway management. I am currently the department lead for this.  I took over as clinical lead for the anaesthetic department in August 2021.  I work regularly as one of the trauma anaesthetists.

I have held positions as medical advisor and clinical director within ambulance services in the UK and in the Channel Islands. Outside of hospital, I work in event and crowd medicine roles.   I have worked in pre-hospital care in the UK and in South Africa and am the CQC registered manager for EDMS Medical.

I have worked at Ipswich Hospital since 2017.  I specialise in regional anaesthesia and acute pain.

I have worked for the Trust since November 2015.

I started working at Colchester Hospital as a consultant anaesthetist in October 2000.

I completed my specialist training at The Royal Free Hospital, The Middlesex, UCH and The Royal Brompton Hospital. I was accredited as a specialist anaesthetist by the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1999.

I provide care for patients undergoing both planned and emergency surgery at Colchester and participate in the out of hours emergency service.  I have developed interests in patients undergoing emergency abdominal surgery, fractured hip surgery and elderly patients requiring surgery.

I regularly anaesthetise for patients undergoing major bowel surgery. Since November 2017 I have been Lead Clinician for the Anaesthetic Department.

My special interest is chronic pain.

I completed my anaesthetic training at St George’s School of Anaesthesia London. I have special interest in neuromodulation.

I have worked for the Trust since March 2004.  I specialise in anaesthetics and ICU.

I have worked at the Trust since April 2015. I have worked in Yorkshire, Wales, the Midlands, Kent and India.

I completed my anaesthetic training in Yorkshire, and initial medical training in India.

I attended Medical school at Cambridge University and University College London, and completed my anaesthetic training in North Central London hospitals.

My special interests are in perioperative medicine, and vascular and obstetric anaesthesia.

I am a general Anaesthetist with a wide experience in all areas of anaesthesia, including anaesthesia under difficult circumstances.

I Started at Colchester Hospital in March 2009, having finished my training in East Anglia.

My job involves both anaesthesia and chronic pain.

I have worked as a Consultant at Colchester Hospital since 2002. I qualified with an MBChB in 1989 in Cape Town. I subsequently obtained a Diploma in Anaesthetics (DA) in 1993 in South Africa. I then worked as a ‘flying’ GP in Northern Manitoba Canada where I passed the Evaluating Examination of the Medical Council of Canada (MCCEE) in 1995.

I moved to the UK in 1996 where I undertook postgraduate training in the London region. I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in 1999 and Foundation Fellow of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM) in 2011. I have previously been the Lead clinician for Critical Care at Colchester. I have experience as an ATLS instructor and Course Director.

I am currently the Equipment lead for the anaesthetic department at Colchester. I am also a Clinical Safety Officer (CSO), which entails identifying and managing hazards related to Clinical IT system.

I have worked as a Consultant within the Trust since August 2012.
