I also have an interest in paediatric, urological and obstetric anaesthesia. I fly with the East Anglian Air Ambulance at least once a week.

I am lead clinician for difficult airways in the Trust. I specialise in vascular, paediatrics, and have a special interest in difficult airway procedures.

I have been a consultant anaesthetist at The Ipswich Hospital since February 2014. I trained at the Imperial School of Anaesthesia. I took time out to work at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and to complete a fellowship in obstetric anaesthesia at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital.
My clinical interests include anaesthesia for major spinal surgery, enhanced recovery following orthopaedic surgery and obstetric anaesthesia.
I completed a PGDip in ‘Simulation and Technology in Clinical Practice’ from the Institute of Education (University of London). I undertook a fellowship in medical simulation at St Thomas’ Hospital. I am involved in training at the East Anglian Simulation Training centre, and I have an interest in how human factors influence healthcare.

Most of my anaesthetic training was based in North West London, rotating through the Imperial School of Anaesthesia.

My undergraduate training was at St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School. I spent 3 years with the British Antarctic Survey including a year at Halley Base Antarctica, and a research opportunity at the University of Surrey.
Returning to London I trained as an Anaesthetist at the Middlesex, University College, Whittington, Queen Charlotte’s, Royal National Orthopaedic and St Thomas’ hospitals. I was appointed as Consultant Anaesthetist at Ipswich Hospital in 1993.
I was the Chair of the East Anglian Obstetric Anaesthesia Group until 2018, and I chair the Hospital Medicines Optimisation Committee. I teach on simulation and I am an appraiser for colleagues in the hospital.

I have a particular interest in major case anaesthesia and a sub-speciality interest in anaesthesia for major vascular surgery. I am the lead vascular Anaesthetist on the Vascular Unit.

Having completed my anaesthetics training in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, I became a Consultant at Ipswich in 2013. I have an interest in paediatrics and regularly anaesthetise for child dental and eye surgery. I also do anaesthesia for orthopaedics and general emergencies.
I am the Acute Pain Clinical Lead, a role which involves overseeing acute pain management for inpatients, seeing inpatients with poorly controlled pain and liaising with our team of acute pain nurse specialists.

I have held several senior management positions over the last 15 years and have an interest in medical appraisal and management of doctors in difficulty.
I am a resuscitation trainer and have a particular interest in the subject of ‘Human Factors’ as applied to medical practice.

I have worked for the Trust for 15 years as a consultant in anaesthesia and pain management. As well as anaesthetising patients for a variety of operations I run a community based pain management clinic for patients who are suffering long-term, patient focussing on self-management strategies to control pain.
I was trained in the East of England with placements at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, James Paget Hospital, Ipswich Hospital and Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
From 2009 to 2013 I spent 4 ½ years working in a small orthopaedic mission hospital in Blantyre, Malawi as a consultant anaesthetist. The hospital provided free surgery to children who would otherwise have to live life with a disability.

I took over as clinical lead for the anaesthetic department in August 2021. I work regularly as one of the trauma anaesthetists.
I have held positions as medical advisor and clinical director within ambulance services in the UK and in the Channel Islands. Outside of hospital, I work in event and crowd medicine roles. I have worked in pre-hospital care in the UK and in South Africa and am the CQC registered manager for EDMS Medical.

I completed my specialist training at The Royal Free Hospital, The Middlesex, UCH and The Royal Brompton Hospital. I was accredited as a specialist anaesthetist by the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1999.
I provide care for patients undergoing both planned and emergency surgery at Colchester and participate in the out of hours emergency service. I have developed interests in patients undergoing emergency abdominal surgery, fractured hip surgery and elderly patients requiring surgery.
I regularly anaesthetise for patients undergoing major bowel surgery. Since November 2017 I have been Lead Clinician for the Anaesthetic Department.

I have worked as a Consultant at Colchester Hospital since 2002. I qualified with an MBChB in 1989 in Cape Town. I subsequently obtained a Diploma in Anaesthetics (DA) in 1993 in South Africa. I then worked as a ‘flying’ GP in Northern Manitoba Canada where I passed the Evaluating Examination of the Medical Council of Canada (MCCEE) in 1995.
I moved to the UK in 1996 where I undertook postgraduate training in the London region. I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in 1999 and Foundation Fellow of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM) in 2011. I have previously been the Lead clinician for Critical Care at Colchester. I have experience as an ATLS instructor and Course Director.
I am currently the Equipment lead for the anaesthetic department at Colchester. I am also a Clinical Safety Officer (CSO), which entails identifying and managing hazards related to Clinical IT system.
