Mahbub Alam

I read Medicine at UCL and went on to complete a MS degree at Imperial College, researching complex knee ligament reconstructions, the design and movement of Total Knee Replacements and Patella/Kneecap dislocations. I have published these finding in high impact journals and presented on these topics internationally. I continue to work on ways of improving Knee Surgical Techniques and Technology.
My registrar training was on the Royal London Hospital rotation, where I trained throughout North London & Essex, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. I completed a fellowship at UHS, a centre for the European Knee Association Fellowship.
I was appointed as a Consultant in London in 2014 and joined Colchester Hospital in July 2017.
I specialise in Knee Surgery, specifically Sports Injuries, Arthroscopic Surgery, Total Joint Replacements, Partial Joint Replacements and Joint Preservation Surgery.

I specialise in surgery of the foot and ankle. My undergraduate medical training in Edinburgh was followed by a scholarship to the University of Oxford where I furthered my studies in musculoskeletal medicine. I was awarded a distinction for my dissertation.
My general surgical training was divided between Edinburgh and London. This was followed by an appointment to the Royal London Orthopaedic Surgery Training Programme where I specialised in foot and ankle surgery.
I treat all adult musculoskeletal conditions affecting the foot and ankle. I have a particular interest in:
- severe hallux valgus (bunions)
- hallux rigidus
- lesser toe deformity – hammer, mallet and claw toes
I treat sports injuries including ankle sprains and instability. I perform arthroscopic surgery and ankle replacement. I treat plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, and foot and ankle arthritis.

I am an established Consultant with a specialist interest in knee surgery, specifically ligament reconstruction, cartilage work, osteotomy and surgery in the young or athletic population.
I undertake total knee replacements and revision arthroplasty.

I qualified from UCMSM in London in 1993, then completed my SHO rotation in Bristol. My registrar rotation was in East Anglia, and I undertook a primary and revision hip fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia in 2004-2005.
I was appointed as a Consultant at Ipswich Hospital in 2005.

I gained my undergraduate medical qualifications from Imperial College, London in 2007. I subsequently undertook my postgraduate training in South East London, before moving to the East of England to complete higher surgical orthopaedic training. I became a fellow of the Royal college of surgeons in 2016.
I am fellowship trained in hip and knee surgery, as well as orthopaedic tumour surgery. My fellowship training was at various centres in the UK, Europe and Australia.
I was appointed as a consultant at ESNEFT in 2020. My main clinical interests are:
- general trauma
- primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery
- surgical treatment of peri-prosthetic joint infection
Chris Martin

My main area of interest is lower limb arthroplasty and arthroscopic knee surgery.
I completed a fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty at Wrightington Hospital for Joint Diseases in 2004 and offer contemporary techniques such as unicompartmental joint replacement and hip surgery for the young.
I also undertake revision surgery and teach on a number of national and international arthroplasty courses.

I have been a Consultant at Ipswich Hospital since 2008. In my clinical practice I cover adult and paediatric orthopaedic trauma care.
In my elective practice I undertake hip and knee surgery including joint replacement and revision hip replacement.
Tim Parratt

I joined the Trust in September 2017. I tend to see patients suffering from all forms of arthritis, those who require revision of an existing joint replacement and patients suffering from soft tissue knee injuries.
I specialise in hip and knee surgery, offering simple and complex joint reconstruction in the form of hip/knee replacement and revision hip/knee replacement. In addition, I also perform soft tissue knee reconstruction, knee arthroscopy (keyhole) and patello-femoral realignment.
I qualified from the University of Dundee in 2003 and was selected for higher surgical training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore) rotation.
I have worked in many general hospitals in Essex as well as specialist tertiary centres such as the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London Hospital.

I qualified in 1993 from Guy’s Hospital Medical School and have been a Consultant orthopaedic surgeon since 2004. My special areas of clinical interest are primary and revision hip surgery, hip replacement in young adults, uncemented hip arthroplasty and arthroscopic knee surgery.
My non-clinical interests include postgraduate medical education. I am the chairman of the higher surgical training committee for Trauma and Orthopaedics for the East of England Deanery.
I am also the Royal College of Surgeons regional speciality professional advisor in Orthopaedic Surgery for the East of England.

I have been a Consultant at Ipswich Hospital since 2004 and am the Clinical Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Ipswich Hospital. I studied medicine at UMDS (Guy’s Hospital Campus) qualifying in 1992. I completed my Orthopaedic training in Cambridge and East Anglia and subsequently undertook two Fellowships; the first in Brisbane, Australia and the second a six-month Shoulder Fellowship in Cape Town, South Africa under Dr Joe De Beer.
I am an Upper Limb surgeon with specific interest in the shoulder, including arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction such as tendon repairs and instability surgery, as well as open surgery such as shoulder replacements.
I have maintained a strong interest in clinical research throughout my career taking part in many National multi-centre clinical studies. I am on the Editorial board for the Journal of Arthroscopy.

My professional responsibilities include being Recruitment Director for core surgical training for the East of England Deanery. I am a member of the East of England School of Surgery Board. I am Departmental Educational Supervisor for the Higher Surgical Trainees in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
I am co-organiser of the Cambridge Cruciate Course and the Cambridge Knee Physiotherapy Course. I am also on the Editorial Board of the Arthroscopy journal, and reviewer for the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (British edition).
My published work includes two books and papers on knee arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction, PCL injury, patellofemoral realignment and hamstring injury.

I was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ipswich Hospital in 1996. I am an upper limb surgeon with a particular interest in hand and wrist surgery.
I also undertake arthroscopic surgery of the hand, elbow and shoulder. I was Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Ipswich Hospital from 2004 to 2013.
I graduated in Medicine at Bristol in 1977, FRCS Eng in 1982. 1982-1989 I completed orthopaedic training in Sheffield (Senior Lecturer). I became a Pulvertaft Hand Fellow in 1990.

I have worked for the Trust for 17 years. I was a registrar on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Training Rotation followed by a Fellowship at the Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby and a year in Perth, Australia doing upper limb surgery.
My practice includes shoulder and elbow replacements, arthroscopy of the shoulder, elbow and wrist, hand surgery and upper limb elective and trauma work.

I was appointed in 2013 having already completed a year as a locum consultant here. My Orthopaedic training was completed on the prestigious Royal London Hospital training programme exposing me to all aspects of orthopaedic care including high level trauma management.
I undertook fellowship training in hip surgery in both Berlin and Bournemouth before taking up my appointment at Colchester. I see and assess patients with all aspects of hip pathology and also treat patients with knee arthritis, or meniscal tears.
I am a strong advocate of enhanced recovery for all of my patients who undergo surgery to gain the best out of their procedure.

I have been a consultant at the trust since 2011 and lead the Foot & Ankle surgery team. My specialism covers the deformity and pain of injuries, arthritis and soft tissue disorders that affect the ankle and foot.
I qualified in 1999, and gained my consultant post having trained in centres around London, Oxford, Cambridge and the Eastern Deanery. My final senior fellowship was at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.

I joined the Trust in 2018 having worked at Ipswich for 2 years as a Registrar from 2013 to 2015.
I completed my Medical Degree at Oxford University. My early training was in Surrey as a military trainee. My military experience included a tour to Afghanistan in 2009.
I completed my registrar training in the East of England. I completed my Fellowship training in Sports Surgery at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in Ontario.
I focus on up to date techniques in joint preservation and ligament reconstruction. I also perform joint replacement surgery of the lower limb.

I joined the Trust in February 2018. I cover general trauma cases with a specialist interest in foot and ankle both trauma and elective. This includes degenerate hindfoot pathologies, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes.
I was a Registrar in the East of England deanery, and completed my Fellowship in Leicester.
