Bleeding in early pregnancy

Bleeding in early pregnancy

We appreciate that bleeding in early pregnancy can be a very anxious time.

If you are experiencing bleeding, contact one of the following:

  • your GP
  • your community midwife
  • Out of Hours GP service

 

If the bleeding is very heavy or you cannot manage your pain, please attend the Emergency Department (A&E) at Colchester Hospital or Ipswich Hospital.

Colchester Hospital service

Contact the gynaecology service

Ipswich Hospital service

Your GP, community midwife or the Out of Hours service will refer you to Ipswich Hospital:

  • The Emergency Gynaecology Assessment Unit

or

  • The gynaecology doctor on call at the hospital

Early Gynae Assessment Unit

The unit sees referred patients from Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.
