Santa Fun Run 2022 raises over £22,000

More than 400 Santas took part in the 13th consecutive Santa Fun Run, organised by Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, yesterday (4 December). Together they raised over £22,000 for our local NHS hospitals.

The family friendly spectacular had 5km or 3km routes around the picture perfect Castle Park and participants fundraised for the hospital departments that meant the most to them.

At the finish line, everyone was awarded a bespoke and environmentally friendly medal and snacks. Both the Cancer Choir and Colchester Hospital Radio where there to cheer on the runners on from start to finish.

Events fundraising manager for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, Laetitia Holland, said: “It’s been a tough few years for the NHS, but this event has given us the chance to get together in person and support our staff and services. The Santa Fun Run is the perfect start to the festive season and there’s such a feel good factor about everyone completing the run together.

“We always feel very humbled when our community support us with such enthusiasm. The money raised will genuinely make life-changing improvements to a wide range of departments and services at our hospitals and community sites.

“We would like to say a huge thank you all the supporters to helped make the event a big success, especially our kind sponsor Stroods, who helped us to really get everyone in the Christmas spirit. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
