New provider for non-emergency patient transport

A new supplier has taken over running the non-emergency patient transport service.

HTG (Health Transportation Group) takes over the service from Wednesday 1 April.

Patients who are currently eligible and use the service can continue to do so. No changes have been made to the eligibility criteria.

If transport is pre-booked for a patient, this should continue to happen in the usual way, but if concerned, patients can check by calling HTG to confirm they’re booked in.

Patients who book directly should call HTG on 01245 951205. Patients can also email the team with questions to PET@HTG-UK.com.

There is a strict eligibility criteria for patients who have no other alternative for travelling to their appointment. This will be checked when the booking is made. Non-emergency transport can only be used for:

  • Transport to an NHS-funded appointment at a hospital or clinic
  • Between care and treatment centres
  • From hospital when discharged

Patients are automatically eligible when travelling to and from renal dialysis treatment and their block bookings can continue to be made in advance. Patients who are unable to travel to hospital for cancer-related treatment may also be eligible.

More information about eligibility for non-emergency patient transport can be found on the NHS website. Information about help with health costs is available on the NHS website.
