You can now listen to Hospital Radio Ipswich via an app on your smartphone or tablet.
Patients, visitors, staff and the public now have far greater access to the town’s longest-running radio station, which can still be enjoyed by patients by their bedside.
The app was launched during presenter Rick Double’s Sunday Breakfast show on Mother’s Day.
To mark the occasion, Rick was joined by Hospital Radio Ipswich presenter Stephen ‘Foz’ Foster – a household name in Suffolk and East Anglia – and BBC Radio Two’s Sally Boazman (AKA ‘Sally Traffic’), who lives in Suffolk.
Stephen, who is chairman of Hospital Radio Ipswich, said: “We’re here to entertain and inform and, most importantly, keep patients company during their stay in hospital.”
“It’s important to make listening to our 24/7 programmes as easy and convenient as possible.
“We know that patients continue to listen to us when they leave hospital, and we hope that trend will only increase with our new app.”
The app, which Radio Caroline presenter Pat Edison helped develop, is available for Apple and Android devices via this link, by visiting the Hospital Radio Ipswich website or by visiting the App Store.
You can also listen to Hospital Radio Ipswich on your smartspeaker.
Hospital Radio Colchester is also available for patients at Colchester Hospital. It is available via an online player as well as on TuneIn, MyTuner and through your smart speaker.
