Help us to reduce the spread of winter illnesses

Illnesses like colds, flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and norovirus (which causes sickness and diarrhoea) increase during the winter months.

Flu cases are currently increasing and are likely to peak in the coming weeks.

These viruses can be dangerous for our most poorly patients and also means that our colleagues may not be able to come to work if they catch them.

Please help us to protect our patients and staff by not visiting loved ones if you feel unwell with any of these symptoms:

  • High temperature
  • cough/cold
  • feeling tired and achy
  • Diarrhoea and/or vomiting

Take some simple steps to reduce the spread of illness by:

  • Wearing a mask in our hospitals if you are a patient who has cold or flu symptoms
  • Making sure you regularly wash your hands with soap and warm water
  • Take the opportunity to have a flu, Covid and RSV vaccines if you’re eligible. Vaccines can prevent you becoming seriously ill with any of these illnesses and reduce the likelihood of you needing hospital treatment.
