Family and friends are being asked to support their loved ones when they are ready to leave hospital.
During the winter months our hospitals experience higher demand than usual. When a patient is ready to be discharged, their family plays an important role in helping them get home as quickly as possible.

Chief Nurse Catherine Morgan at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust said: “We know that people recover far better in their own home when they are medically well enough to leave our care. Being supported by their loved ones can really support patients to be able to return home as well as free up their hospital bed for the another person who needs it.
“Like many NHS trusts across the country, we are seeing increased demand for our services this winter so would be grateful for those with family members in hospital to help us get them home as soon as they can.”
Members of the public are encouraged to use NHS services wisely.
Catherine continued: “We are doing everything we can to deliver safe and compassionate care for our patients and would encourage our community to please use our services wisely.
“Please also avoid visiting a loved one in our hospital if you are unwell yourself and help us by using other NHS services when possible, such as speaking to your pharmacist or using NHS 111 for advice.
“If you have not had your flu vaccination, also please do so to stay well and reduce your chance of becoming unwell. We are grateful for everyone’s continued support.”
