An ESNEFT consultant has won a European Award in medicine for his work in ophthalmology.
Mr Chrysostomos Dimitriou won the award last month for his work to treat glaucoma and cataracts with minimally-invasive surgery.
Mr Dimitriou, who operates at Colchester Hospital, said together with his team, it’s been a huge amount and he’s very grateful for the award.
Mr Dimitriou said: “I feel very grateful to the committee of the European Awards in Medicine, who have selected us for the 2024 Award in Ophthalmology.
“My team and I deeply appreciate this prestigious recognition of our efforts at ESNEFT and the Eye Centre at Colchester to improve patients’ experience by utilising the latest technologies for combined cataract and minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery.
“Our results have been outstanding, with accumulating plaudits and the driving force of enhancing current guidelines in the ever-evolving world of interventional glaucoma for truly personalised medicine and individualised patient care.”
