Sajid Alam
Stroke Medicine

I qualified at the Bart’s & London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2004. Following most of my junior doctor medical rotations in Essex and Suffolk I was appointed to the Geriatric Medicine Specialty programme in the East of England Deanery.
I also undertook a year of sub-specialist training for stroke medicine at Southend University Hospital. I completed my training in 2014. I worked at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and at Southend University Hospital at the start of my Consultant career before deciding to settle at Ipswich hospital.
I look after patients who have suffered a stroke and those with general medical problems.

I joined the stroke team at Ipswich Hospital in October 2012, working out of Shotley Ward where hyperacute and acute stroke services are provided. The RAPIDS clinic allows Consultants to see TIA referrals seven days a week.
We are looking to consolidate our position in the region to drive up the quality of the service provided for Suffolk residents providing a complete stroke pathway in keeping with the National Stroke Strategy and Stroke Improvement National Audit Programme (SINAP).

I am a Speciality Doctor in Stroke Medicine and have been employed by Colchester Hospital since 2006.
I practiced in Care of the Elderly and Acute Medicine and covered at Clacton Hospital in 2009.
I joined the stroke service at Colchester Hospital in 2012. My work covers Acute stroke/TIA and stroke-related illness and prevention.
I worked almost 14 years overseas before settling in the UK.
Elena Jamieson
Older people’s services (including frailty services) and Stroke
Ipswich Hospital
I am a specialist in movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease, providing comprehensive geriatric assessment of older people at the hospital and in the community. I work with GPs, community based nurses and therapists in the Ipswich area and provide patient’s home visits when required.
My research interests are vascular and lewy body dementia. I am the adult safeguarding lead at the Ipswich Hospital, specialising in medico-legal aspects of patient’s care.
Joseph Ngeh

I have worked for the Trust since 2013. I am a full-time Consultant Stroke Physician. I am also a Consultant Physician in Geriatric and General Medicine. Previously, I have worked as a Consultant in Ipswich (2009-2013), Malaysia (2006-2009) and Warwick (2004-2006).
I did my specialist registrar training in NE London and Oxford Deaneries. I obtained my MD doctorate degree from University of Bath; MSc degree in Geriatric Medicine (Distinction) from Keele University and MB, BCh, BAO (Hons) medical degree from Ireland.
