Sign up now and learn life-saving skills

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) is giving people the chance to learn vital skills which could help them save a life on World Restart a Heart Day.

Staff at Colchester Hospital will hold three cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training sessions on Wednesday 16 October. The hour-long courses will give the public the chance to learn how to perform chest compressions while also increasing their awareness of the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrests. ESNEFT staff will also hold sessions for pupils from local schools.

The training has been arranged in response to statistics which show that a patient’s chance of survival drops by 10 percent for every minute of delay in starting CPR – something which can mean the difference between life and death for anyone who has a cardiac arrest out-of-hospital.

The free sessions will be held in the ICENI Centre and take place at 1pm, 4pm and 5pm. Booking is essential, and anyone who would like to secure a place should email louise.bennett@esneft.nhs.uk or call 01206 742898.
