Additional equipment which helps to reduce discomfort for patients who are being treated for cancer is now available at Ipswich Hospital thanks to the generosity of a local business.
Whip Street Motors Ltd, which is a regular supporter of Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, has donated £2,680 for extra air gloves to be used in the Woolverstone Wing, which is the hospital’s oncology unit.
The equipment will help to warm patient’s arms and reduce the pain and discomfort sometimes experienced from cannulation, in turn making treatment more comfortable.
Charlie Baker (pictured above with Woolverstone staff), who is one of four brothers at the family firm, said: “The oncology unit is very close to our hearts as we have many friends and customers who have been treated there.
“We are committed to helping the local community and like to regularly give to the hospital as we know the difference this makes to patients and their families.”
Earlier this year the firm also donated vein finders, which help locate veins below the skin to make it easier to give treatments.
Sandra Gosney, community fundraising manager for the charity, said: “We would like to thank Whip Street Motors Ltd for their continued support.
“Having the additional equipment will make such a difference to patients during treatment and procedures and bring some comfort during a difficult time.”
