Endoscopy services at Colchester Hospital are changing location

ESNEFT will be moving endoscopy procedures at Colchester Hospital to continue our Big Builds programme, helping us to improve patient care.

From Monday 12 February, endoscopy services will be moving to different areas onsite and in the community. There will be changes in location for patients having endoscopy procedures as part of an overnight stay and for those having day treatments.

Your patient letter will clearly state where your procedure will be and the booking team are available to help if needed for information and advice.

If you are having care at Colchester Hospital with an overnight stay, your procedure will still be in the main building at the hospital and you will be taken to either a regular theatre in the Elmstead Day Unit or to X-ray Alpha. This change is for twelve weeks whilst building work takes place for the Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC) which is next door to the Elmstead Day Unit.

Your pre and post procedure care will be at the temporary Endoscopy Day Unit next to the Children’s ward.

If you are having a procedure where you arrive and go home on the same day, you will either go to Clacton Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) or The Oaks Hospital in Colchester depending on the type of procedure you need to have.  There will also be some limited outpatients appointments at Colchester Hospital.
