Children coming in for an operation

If your child is coming in for routine surgery, here’s some information to make sure they are kept safe:

  • Your child will be tested (swabbed) for COVID-19 three days before their operation.
  • Your child will then need to isolate at home until their surgery. This means they must stay at home and not leave the house (including no childcare or school settings).
  • The parent who will accompany the child for their operation needs to stick to social distancing from the time of the child’s test (swab) until they go to theatre.

Contact the team caring for your child if anyone in the household develops symptoms of COVID-19.

Remember Hands. Face. Space

When in hospital, wash your hands regularly, wear a face mask and follow social distancing guidance.
