Getting here
By bus
There are bus stops in the hospital grounds, on Turner Road and on Northern Way.
Buses that stop outside the main doors to the hospital are 8, 84 and 84B operated by Arriva and 61, 65, 68 operated by First.
Buses that stop on Turner Road outside the hospital are 80, 81 and 81A operated by Arriva.
Park & Ride service: there is a bus stop on Northern Way with a pedestrian route into the hospital.

From Sunday 21 October 2018, there will be bus stop changes in Colchester town centre. Please see Essex County Council’s website for details of where to catch your bus.
By community transport
Community transport schemes can help you to travel to the hospital. The services are for elderly and disabled people and for people in rural communities with no public transport.

By Non-Urgent Patient Transport Service (PTS)
PTS by car or ambulance is for patients whose physical or mental condition means that they are unable to travel in any other way and who require the skills of staff to support them during their journey.

By car or motorbike
Coming from the A12, leave at junction 28. Follow the signs to the hospital taking Via Urbis Romanae, Mill Road and Turner Road. The hospital is on Turner Road.
Parking at the hospital is very limited, so please use the Park and Ride service when possible. The Park and Ride terminus is near junction 28 of the A12.

Option 1 “Yes, that’s my vehicle and the correct entry time” Press and pay for Parking
Option 2 “This is my vehicle but the entry time is wrong” Press and take you to Honesty screen
Option 3 “No, the picture in not my vehicle” Press and take you to Honesty screen
If vehicle is not found takes you to the Honesty screen.

Parking charges
Visitors may park free of charge for the first 30 minutes in the main public car park or at the drop-off point outside the hospital’s main entrance.
Please note all car parking tariffs are inclusive of the free 30 minute period.

Disabled drivers
Disabled and self-driving renal patients can park for free. There are wheelchair access spaces by the main entrance of the PCC and in the visitors car park.
If you have a blue badge you must take it to the reception and register it on the system. The reception is located near the main entrance opposite the reception desk. You WILL NOT have to do this again until your blue badge expires or you change vehicle, as the ANPR system will recognise your number plate when you visit again.
Blue Badge holders must not park on double yellow lines or hatched areas.
Parking for chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients
Parking is free for patients attending for chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. Please ask the department for details.
Parents with a baby in the Neonatal Unit can claim. Payment will be made to one parent only.

Support for patients who claim benefits
If you are a patient on any of the following benefits you can claim back parking charges and get a mileage allowance:

Visitors on benefits cannot claim.
By train
Colchester has two railway stations:
- Colchester Rail Station (COL) is 1.6 miles from the hospital. The station has a taxi rank. Buses 61, 65, 80 and the Park & Ride run between this train station and bus stops in or near the hospital.
- Colchester Town Station (CET) is 4.3 miles from the hospital. The station does not have a taxi rank. Buses 8, 61, 65, 81A and the Park & Ride run from the nearby town centre to bus stops in or near the hospital.
