What our current Non-Executive Directors have to say

Eddie Bloomfield
It has been my privilege to be a NED at ESNEFT since 2018. The role has been highly motivating, personally developmental and very rewarding. The Exec and Non Exec teams are a hugely skilled, experienced and supportive group who live the Trust values. It is a pleasure to work alongside them and to support the delivery of care to the community we serve.

Mike Gogarty
Being a NED at ESNEFT is both a great privilege and responsibility. ESNEFT are about as large and progressive as an NHS trust can be and the quality, focus, passion and drive of the Executive leadership is second to none. I remain on a very steep learning curve but cherish the opportunity to be play a part in such an important organisation for the people we serve.

John Humpston
It is a privilege to be a NED and to support such a talented health community to improve the health outcomes for all residents in ESNEFT. There is continuous learning about health care delivery, good practice and innovation. There is openness to constructive critical challenge and the opportunity to use skills acquired in other contexts

Hussein Khatib
ESNEFT, as an integrated care Trust, allowed me to develop and nurture my skills as a NED in a supportive environment. There are many opportunities to support, scrutinise and work with the Executive Directors and their teams in order to improve the patient journey, safety and experience. The NEDs and Associate NEDs are a cohesive team and am proud to be part of ESNEFT.

Mark Millar
Being a Non-Executive Director in the NHS is such an interesting and rewarding role. The value in a strong NED team is the diversity of experiences and viewpoints which we each bring to the table. This gives us the best possible chance to achieve that balance between constructive challenge and support of the Executive team, as well as contributing to strategy and ensuring the highest standards of governance, all in the interest of patients, staff and the wider public.

Karen Sinnott
Being an Associate NED at ESNEFT is a pleasure and a steep learning curve; I feel supported and enjoying every moment. ESNEFT is an innovative NHS trust with proven delivery and further ambition to drive change for better service user experiences. My role is so fulfilling, being new to the NHS, the Board welcome diverse thought, fresh perspectives, and ideas from non-clinicians.

Richard Spencer
Being a NED at ESNEFT has been an amazing privilege. I have learned so much about the NHS and myself in the process, and remain excited to be part of a well-functioning board that is ambitious for change. I knew nothing about the NHS before I applied to be a NED, but feel this hasn’t held me back from being able to contribute as a board member, bringing my past experiences and skills to bear in a new context.
