Time Garden

ESNEFT colleague Claire Carran is encouraging Christmas well-wishers to make a donation to the Colchester Hospital Time Garden this year.

Claire’s father Ron spent a year in and out of the hospital before he died just before Christmas last year. Ron had Alzheimer’s and Claire said the garden made a huge difference to him.

Claire, an executive assistant, said: “Dad was a gardener and had an allotment so being outside was what he loved. The Time Garden was a relaxed space away from the noise and lights of the ward.”

The Time Garden is a private space where end of life patients can spend time with their family, friends and pets.

Claire and her colleague Barbara Buckley, Chief Medical Officer, (pictured together) are asking colleagues to consider donating to the garden’s upkeep instead of sending Christmas cards this year.
