ADHD Specialist Nurse

North Essex community

I am a registered learning disability nurse and have been have been a registered nurse since 2003, working in a range of children’s services in Hertfordshire, Essex and North East London.

I have been Clinical Nurse Specialist in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) since joining the Trust  three years ago.

I work in the Community Paediatric Team and run nurse-led clinics in Colchester, Clacton and Halstead. My role in clinic is to meet children, young people, their parents and carers and ensure they are listened to and understand ADHD and how it diagnosed and best treated.

In clinics we meet and together we check out how well medication is working and I help manage any problems related to their ADHD treatment, physical and emotional wellbeing.

I support children, young people, their parents and carers to access any other services that may be helpful. I am a non-medical prescriber so I  make shared decisions about ADHD treatment plans with children, young people and their parents and carers.

I am also involved in assessing children for ADHD and Autism.
