Hospital trusts merge to create ESNEFT

On Sunday 01 July, a new NHS organisation started to serve Colchester, Ipswich and the local area.

Called ESNEFT for short, the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is made up of the two NHS trusts that ran Colchester and Ipswich hospitals. ESNEFT will run services from Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, seven other sites and in the community.

This is an exciting opportunity. Working together will help us save, strengthen and grow our services and see you at the right time. Our new size will help keep and attract the great staff we need. We will reduce duplication to free up more money for our frontline services.

Patients should continue to use our services as normal. But there will be changes behind the scenes. Because time matters, we want to get rid of unnecessary stress and frustration. We will do this by streamlining and modernising our systems and processes. We know travel and transport are real issues for many of our patients. That’s why we expect the vast majority of our services to continue to take place as they do now.  Colchester and Ipswich will keep their emergency departments and maternity services. They will continue to  provide emergency stays in hospitals day and night. But will make more appointments available closer to where you live to save you time and money.

ESNEFT gives us the opportunity to provide the communities we serve with excellent healthcare. Thank you for your support and commitment. And welcome to ESNEFT.
