People in Suffolk and north Essex who are having difficulty conceiving a baby may be able to benefit from a new and less costly IVF (in vitro fertilisation) service.
One in every six couples will experience difficulty conceiving. Paying for IVF may be an option for some, but not everyone can afford it.
Pure IVF is a nurse led service which will be launched at Ipswich Hospital for people in Suffolk and north Essex early next year. It is overseen by experienced consultants and delivered by fertility nurse specialists.
The benefit of Pure – if you meet the criteria – is that it can cost half the price at £2,500, but has the same success rate.
In Suffolk some couples meet criteria for NHS-funded IVF treatment, but it is not available in north Essex.
Fertility experts from East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) will be on hand to talk to anyone at any stage of their journey to conceive about Pure, as well as fertility health and wellbeing, at an information event at Ipswich Hospital on Tuesday, 30 October from 6pm to 8pm.
It will give people the chance to find out about the range of fertility services now on offer and the opportunity to have questions answered in a relaxed environment.
Fertility consultant Djavid Alleemudder said: “We are offering a lot more than people realise. We have an excellent and expanding fertility service for couples who are struggling to conceive.”
Speakers on the night will include Mr Alleemudder and Cambridge IVF’s consultant embryologist Stephen Harbottle and Pure IVF lead nurse Jenny Rollason. Patients will also be there to share their stories.
Fertility nurse specialist Rudo Musoni said: “Individuals and couples who are struggling to conceive or who would like to find out more about the services on offer and what their options are, are all welcome.”
Although NHS-funded IVF is not available in Essex, self-funding (private) patients can still benefit from trusted NHS IVF care so people in Colchester and the surrounding areas could be eligible for Pure IVF and other fertility treatments too.
The Colchester and Ipswich Fertility team has a partnership with leading experts at Cambridge IVF, part of Addenbrooke’s hospital, where self-funding patients can have satellite IVF. This is where patients start their treatment at Ipswich Hospital and go to the specialist Cambridge centre for egg collection an embryo transfer.
There is no need to book a place for the information event. Guests can park for free in the hospital’s car park ‘J’. Refreshments will be available.
