Education courses for cancer patients

Moving on with HOPE course

(helping to overcome problems effectively)

A 6-week course for 2 ½ hours per week.

The course is run by two trained HOPE facilitators; who are either health or social care professionals, or trained volunteers who may have had a cancer experience.

There will be between 6 – 12 people on the course; all who have a cancer diagnosis and are at the end of their treatment. You can access this course when it feels right for you; from immediately after treatment or anytime up to 2 years afterwards.

This Macmillan bespoke course gives participants the opportunity to share and gain support and in turn offer support to others.

There are opportunities to set goals, learn new relaxation techniques and address common issues such as diet, exercise, fear of recurrence and body changes.

The course is held at various locations.

Take control workshops (for patients)

The workshops are held in the Cancer Support and Information Centre.

This 3-hour workshop is aimed at patients who are unable to commit to a 6-week H.O.P.E. course at the time.

Time and space workshops (for people supporting someone with cancer)

The workshops are held in the Cancer Support and Information Centre.

This is held over two different days (for approximately 3 hours per session). This workshop aims to support carers.
