Cancer Information Centre (Ipswich Hospital)

 

Our volunteers perform some or all of the following tasks:

  • Meeting and greeting visitors to the centre in a polite and professional manner
  • Directing people to appointments within the cancer department and hospital
  • Making tea/ coffee, washing up, keeping the drinks area clean, tidy and restocked
  • Tidying and restocking shelves of literature
  • Making sure information displayed in the centre is in date and relevant
  • Photocopying and filing
  • Basic office tasks
  • Keeping the centre tidy
  • Keeping the hats, scarfs and wigs in good condition
  • Tidying cupboards and storage areas
  • Taking /collecting information to and from other departments for the manager
  • Answering the phone professionally and taking written messages
  • Assessing who is the appropriate person to provide the support or information that the patient or carer needs
  • Helping to promote the Cancer Centre and the services we offer
  • Making up patient folders or information packs

It would be useful to have basic computer skills, but this is not essential.
