Our volunteers perform some or all of the following tasks:
- Meeting and greeting visitors to the centre in a polite and professional manner
- Directing people to appointments within the cancer department and hospital
- Making tea/ coffee, washing up, keeping the drinks area clean, tidy and restocked
- Tidying and restocking shelves of literature
- Making sure information displayed in the centre is in date and relevant
- Photocopying and filing
- Basic office tasks
- Keeping the centre tidy
- Keeping the hats, scarfs and wigs in good condition
- Tidying cupboards and storage areas
- Taking /collecting information to and from other departments for the manager
- Answering the phone professionally and taking written messages
- Assessing who is the appropriate person to provide the support or information that the patient or carer needs
- Helping to promote the Cancer Centre and the services we offer
- Making up patient folders or information packs
It would be useful to have basic computer skills, but this is not essential.
