Dermatology care moves to ESNEFT

Specialist skin care (also known as dermatology) for people living in north east Essex will now be provided by East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).

Dermatology was previously provided in north east Essex by another provider, but started being run and delivered by ESNEFT from 15 May.

Neill Moloney, managing director of ESNEFT, said:

This is a testament to how we all work together in north east Essex as a local health system and how we fix problems for the benefit of our patients. We were due to take over the dermatology service in July, but thanks to great partnership working we started managing the service in May. We are very much looking forward to caring for north east Essex patients.

Lisa Llewelyn, director of nursing and clinical quality at North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group, said:

I am really pleased that, through excellent partnership working, we are able to provide our patients with access to an alternative service immediately and ensure a safe and seamless service transition takes place.

Every patient who has been referred for specialist skin care or is currently being treated will be contacted by colleagues from ESNEFT to organise their appointments in the near future.

Sam Fuller, associate director for operations with ESNEFT, said:

We would like to give everyone who is waiting for an appointment or already receiving dermatology care, the reassurance that we will be in touch by 7 June.
