Baby Remembrance Services in Colchester and Ipswich during National Baby Loss Awareness Week

Baby Remembrance Services will be held in Colchester and Ipswich during National Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Families who have lost a baby during pregnancy or around the time of giving birth are invited to attend the services, led by the ESNEFT (East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust) chaplains.

The services are being held on Thursday, 11 October at The Ark Methodist Church, Jack Andrews Drive, Highwoods (7.30 pm) and on Sunday, 14 October at St Michael and All Angels’ Church at Martlesham Heath, in Ipswich (3pm).

It will include prayers, music, and an opportunity for parents to take part in a candle-lighting ceremony in memory of their baby.

Afterwards, parents will have a chance to talk informally with each other and the Trust’s chaplaincy and maternity teams over tea, coffee and biscuits.

Colchester Hospital lead chaplain Allison Cline-Dean, said:

“The service is for parents, who have lost a child as a result of a miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after the birth of their baby, whether that loss was recent or many years – or even decades – ago.

Families can join together so their baby can be remembered and we can support each other in the journey of loss.”

The service is open to all who have been affected by the loss of a baby, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters.

More details can be obtained by contacting the chaplaincy team on 01206 742 014.
